Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English literature. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). After two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent. From 1981 onwards she started reporting from the White House. In 1988, she became head of the congressional reporters. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign correspondent in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell hosted and was an expert panelist on the TV program Meet the Press. She served on an advisory panel during the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in the field of journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered for the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of Ronald Reagan's terms as President. She has covered several notable reports over the years, such as the tax reforms, budget reforms and The Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell traveled frequently together with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
